Angie Bongiolatti - Back cover design, blurbs, and release details
This is the back cover design to the book, which includes some amazing quotes by cartoonists Tom Kaczynski and Eleanor Davis.
Secret Acres distributed a press release earlier this week, and here’s what it said:
Secret Acres is delighted to introduce you to Angie Bongiolatti, the third graphic novel from Mike Dawson. An all-new, all original story, Angie Bongiolatti is Dawson’s most provocative, complex and adult work yet. Following its launch at the 2014 Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art Festival in New York City on April 5th, Angie Bongiolatti will be in stores everywhere April 15th.
Tom Kaczynski, author of Beta Testing the Apocalypse and Trans Terra writes:
"In Angie Bongiolatti we get to follow a group of young New Yorkers as they navigate the slippery slopes between work, play, friendship, sex and politics in a post 9/11 world. Mike Dawson once again demonstrates his enviable ability to create compelling ensemble casts. His new book honestly explores just how personal the political can be."
Set in the same universe as Troop 142, Dawson’s much acclaimed tale of Boy Scouts gone wild, Angie Bongiolatti puts away childish things and moves into the city. Growing up is hard to do in a society overwhelmed by pre-millennium tension, Y2K bugs, endless war and bursting bubble economies. Angie finds herself stretched thin as the common thread between these newly minted adults.
Eleanor Davis, author of Stinky and How to be Happy, says:
"I love Angie Bongiolatti and its swimming cast of characters, even as I cringe to see myself there: sad and stupid, selfish and small, needing a shower. In a world filled with people who struggle to be good despite being - unattractively, uncomfortably, unacceptably - human, Dawson holds up a gentle and forgiving mirror."
Join Mike and us, Friday, March 28th, at Brooklyn’s Bergen Street Comics for for a pre-show beer bash and book signing!
