cameramanstan:

I present to you “#DontShootDallas” a short film created by Cameraman $tan. This video contains images from a peaceful protest held in Dallas, Tx in support of Mike Brown, a black teenager who was murdered one week earlier in Ferguson, MO. The soundtrack comes courtesy of Kanye West titled “Who Will Survive in America”. Listen closely, as these words directly relate to what the black community has been fighting for more than 400 years and continues to fight in 2014.

I ask that you reblog and spread this video as far as possible; to Paris and back. These issues are very serious, and no longer will we stand for injustice and racism against POC.

Racism Button!

So, I’ve been going through the Ferguson tag and clicking the ignore (“X”) button on all the dumbass racist posts. After you press “X” there is a pop up at the bottom that asks if you’d like to report this person for spam or harassment. I wish there was a third option that said “this shit is racist!” or “ignorant motherfucker!” even if it’s just a placebo button.

Eat shit, racists! Go fuuuuuuuuck yourselves!

I was recently challenged to participate in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, and I’m really happy that something like charity could go viral and help spread good will and provide concrete donations to non-profits making positive changes, so I was excited to participate. While I’m happy so much money has been raised for ALS, I’ve been really moved and saddened by the recent events in Ferguson, Missouri, so I’ve chosen to redirect my energy towards civil rights and Michael Brown’s story. I’ve made a donation to the ACLU, and since California is in a drought, instead of doing a video, I made an art piece about Michael Brown and how his story speaks to larger issues of human rights.

Nas’ message to all the little boys who now fear for their lives. It’s ridiculous how civil rights movement leaders spent their lives to remove this disgusting racist ideology from our minds and yet… Our little boys are scared to walk on the streets - shame. His dream thus remains alive, for we still have a lot of work to do. “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” - Martin Luther King Jr.

Shit, I’m glad a white guy said it. That’s all I was thinking this morning. Just didn’t want to give folks ideas but seems like the world already is.
Need cash? Just be white and shoot any black person. Broad daylight, witnesses present, etc. Doesn’t matter. Shower in hundreds of thousands of dollars.

White affirmative action tbqh

Sketchbook comic about Kajieme Powell’s death at the hands of police on August 19th.

The video that the bystander recorded and the police released, apparently to exonerate themselves, is very disturbing. The police go to their guns too easily too often. There is less than half a minute between the time they pull up and the moment where this man is shot to death. Again, they must have had some knowledge of his potentially disturbed mental state - the reason the police were called seems to be because the man was acting strange. Other police arrive on the scene within a minute.

For more thoughts on this incident I thought this link was good.
